This past Saturday, Downtown Concord hosted Spring into Arts Festival. The Art Festival had an interactive Children's Area, Juried Art Show, and new this year, an independent engagement called "Play Me Series" where instruments lined the streets and visitors were invited to create their own music to fill the festival. Also new this year, was a opportunity to create 3-D art out of old springs.

Welcome New Downtown Business

Villani's Bakery is now open in Downtown Concord at 11 Union Street, South, Suite 103. The owners are Paul and Amanda Villani.

For the Villani's, it all started with bread. Amanda baked banana bread with her grandmother, and Paul baked italian loaves with his father. They have since turned to the sweeter side, creating modest, timeless pastries and desserts.

Rotary Square & Market Grand Opening

Rotary Square and Market officially opens this Saturday, May 2nd, with a dedication ceremony at 9:00 AM. The entire public is invited to the dedication. Rotary Square is a project of the Concord Rotary Club, in partnership with the Piedmont Farmers Market, Cabarrus County, and the City of Concord.

Union Street Live! Concert Expanded

The summer concert series is approaching and we have some exciting new changes! The free concerts will remain on the third Thursday of the month from 6:00 PM- 9:00 PM and will again be located on Means Avenue. At 5:00 PM Union Street will close to vehicle traffic from the public library to Corban Avenue, and will be for pedestrians only.

Several Downtown Concord Businesses Win Awards this Month

September has been an award-winning month for many Downtown Concord businesses! In the Independent Tribune's 2013 Readers' Choice Awards sixteen Downtown Concord businesses took either first or second place in a total of seventeen categories. In addition, Downtown Concord took both first AND second place in the categories of Best Restaurant and Best Burger!

Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. Returns September 26

The North Carolina Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association will again be holding their annual convention in Concord at the Cabarrus Arena. They will begin their stay with a parade into Downtown Concord on Thursday evening, September 26 around 6:00 PM.

Take Our Downtown Survey

The CDDC is conducting a survey between now and September 28. The survey determines where our customers live, the types of events they enjoy attending, and explores what new businesses they would like to see open in Downtown Concord. The respondents will also share with us how they receive information on upcoming events. Each person who takes the survey will be registered into the September Small Business Saturday drawing for $100 in Downtown Concord Dollars.
