Create the Connection - A Community Innovation Day!

Concord Downtown Development Corporation is currently accepting entries for the 2nd Annual Create the Connection event! Creative artists, inventors, and members of the greater community are invited to develop design concepts to activate the sidewalks of Downtown Concord. These inventions will be placed along Union Street for a one-day viewing by the public to be held on Saturday, October 21st from 10 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. The top design, as selected by the public who come out the day of the event, will be awarded a cash prize of $500. There will also be a Judges' Choice prize of $1000 with the potential for one design to be built out for permanent installation 
in Downtown Concord!

Make the best chili in town? Prove it! Join us Saturday November 4th from 1 - 5:00 p.m. in Downtown Concord for our Hops & Heat Beer & Chili Festival! Festival participants will vote for their favorite chili in 4 categories: Red (tomatoe based), Non-Red (non-tomoae based), Vegetarian, & Hot!

The chili cook-off is designed to be fun and competitive as individuals or teams compete for trophies and bragging rights! 

Music on Means is Bringing Back The 90's!

Make plans now to join us Thursday, September 21st in Downtown Concord for Music on Means. September's band is bringing back the 90's! Enjoy live entertainment from Gump Fiction - The Ultimate 90's Experience, games, food trucks, vendors and more from 6 - 9:00 p.m. on Means Avenue in Downtown Concord.

We are still accepting vendors of hand-made items interested in setting up at the event for a nominal fee. Details at the link.

Arts & Craft Vendors Wanted @ Music on Means!

We are looking for arts & craft vendors interested in setting up at Music on Means! The Music on Means concert series is the Third Thursday in June, September & October. We are looking for vendors of hand-made items that would be interested in setting up for the remaining concerts, September 21 & October 19 for a nominal fee. Registration is $30 for one concert, $50 for both. Vendor work should be hand-made.

Pastel Techniques @ Cabarrus Art Guild

Join instructor Malia Bryngelson beginning Saturday, August 19 for Pastel Techniques at the Cabarrus Art Guild.

The monthly workshop will focus on a variety of exercises and techniques to help each student reach and exceed their pastel painting goals.

The emphasis of the class is on learning and experimenting in a relaxed flexible atmosphere that will be motivating and encouraging. The class is for beginning artists, or for the experienced artist who wants to learn more about the medium.

CDDC Annual Party Award Winners

The CDDC celebrated it's 2016/2017 fiscal year to a packed house last Thursday at Red Hill Brewing company. Each year the CDDC presents three awards in recognition and appreciation of service to Downtown Concord.

Volunteer of the Year Award, presented in recognition of one's investment of time and energy as a volunteer, supporting the CDDC's projects and events was awarded to Jim Ramseur.
