The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize - this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
Each year Ellis Jewelers hosts an annual contest encouraging students grades 3 - 12 to participate in a future jewelry designer competition. Students are encouraged to enter an original design and are judged based on practicality of creating the piece, functionality, creativity and presentation. Design must be original work and submitted on the Ellis Jewelers Design sheet.
The CDDC relies on our community volunteers to put on our concert series and special events in Downtown Concord like the upcoming Spring into Arts Festival. For this volunteer opportunity, volunteers will receive a festival T-shirt, entry into our quarterly drawing for $25 in Downtown Concord Dollars and $5 in Downtown Concord Dollars for each shift worked!

The event includes a 5K & Fun Run through Downtown Concord followed by a free festival with inflatables, face painting, arts and crafts, games and the Easter Bunny! Robert Morgan, the author of several books of poetry and fiction including the bestselling novel, Gap Creek, will speak at the Concord Library on Saturday, April 22. Morgan will discuss a selection of his books, many of which are set in the Carolinas, and answer questions.
